The Life of Dr. Alfred Irving Ludlow

Abstract
This article is about the life of A. I. Ludlow who played a significant role when Korea accepted Western Medicine.
He, an American doctor, came to Korea and devoted his life to raise Korean surgeon for twenty six years. Just as Ludlow divide his life into three stages - preparation, activity and __xtircment -, this article followed his division.
In condensing his life and personality, he was a sincere Christian practicing Christ¢¥s sayings and an evangelist not through sermon but through education and medical care. As a doctor, he was an actual educator who raised students and inherited his knowledge and skills, a scholar who created a way to cure Amebic liver abscess. Also, he was not interested in the administration of university and contributed the medical development of Korea by devoting only to research.
Therefore, his colleagues praised that he was condescended, kind, liberal and a volunteer filled with sympathy.
